About Ningaloo Whale Shark Swim
Ningaloo Whale Shark Swim is a guided marine wildlife experience operating from Exmouth in Western Australia within the Ningaloo Marine Park, part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Coast. It allows visitors to snorkel alongside whale sharks, the world's largest fish, which aggregate annually on the reef. Notable for its pristine coral reef, spotter aircraft support, and eco-certified operations, it offers a regulated, seasonal encounter with whale sharks in their natural habitat.
Visitors guide
Visitors depart by boat from Exmouth Marina or Tantabiddi Boat Ramp into Ningaloo Marine Park for a full-day guided tour. Expect a safety briefing, snorkelling equipment and wetsuits provided, and searching for whale sharks assisted by a spotter aircraft. When a shark is located, small groups enter the water with guides to snorkel alongside it at a regulated distance. The setting is open ocean over coral reef with opportunities to see turtles, manta rays, dolphins and reef fish, with lunch and refreshments provided onboard.
