Govardhan Hill
Govardhan Hill, also known as Giriraj Parvat, is a sacred sandstone hillock located in Govardhan town in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, about 22 km from Mathura. Revered in Hindu tradition as the hill lifted by Lord Krishna to protect villagers from torrential rains, it forms the centre of Braj pilgrimage. The 21-km Parikrama path encircling the hill passes temples, kunds and shrines, attracting pilgrims year-round, especially during Govardhan Puja and Mudiya Purnima.
