About Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre
Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre is a renowned wildlife conservation facility located in the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve near Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia. Established in 1964, it was the world's first centre dedicated to rehabilitating orphaned and rescued orangutans. Set within 43 sq km of virgin rainforest, the centre cares for orangutans, trains them to survive in the wild, and releases them. It is a major research and education hub for Bornean orangutan conservation.
