West Coast Wilderness Railway
The West Coast Wilderness Railway is a heritage Abt rack-and-pinion railway operating between Queenstown and Strahan in western Tasmania. Originally built between 1896 and 1899 to transport copper from the Mount Lyell mine, it runs 35 km through temperate rainforest, gorges and along the King River. Rebuilt and reopened in 2002, it is notable for its restored Abt system, heritage carriages and wilderness landscape.
