Gauchar
Gauchar is a hill town situated at 800 meters altitude on the left bank of the Alaknanda River in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. Located en route to Badrinath, it is known for its historic trade fair (Gauchar Mela) started in 1943 and its airstrip used since the 1920s. The town is surrounded by seven mountains and serves as an important stopover for pilgrims visiting Char Dham destinations.
