Khichan Demoiselle Crane Bird Village
Khichan is a small desert village in Rajasthan's Thar Desert that has become world-renowned for hosting thousands of migratory Demoiselle Cranes annually from August to March. The village features specially created feeding enclosures called chugga ghars where visitors can observe the cranes during their morning feeding sessions. This unique conservation success story began in the 1970s when local villagers started feeding the birds, and has grown into a community-led sanctuary recognized as India's first conservation reserve dedicated to Demoiselle Cranes.
