Ghanerao Heritage Royal Village
Ghanerao is a historic heritage village in Pali district, Rajasthan, founded in 1606 as a princely thikana by Thakur Gopal Singh Mertiya. The village is renowned for its 33 stepwells, the most in any Rajasthan village, along with numerous Hindu and Jain temples including the Muchhal Mahavir Temple. The centerpiece is Ghanerao Castle, a marble and red sandstone Rajput architecture structure from 1606 that remains home to the royal family and operates as a heritage hotel. Located near Kumbhalgarh Fort and Ranakpur Jain Temple, Ghanerao offers an authentic glimpse into rural Rajasthani life and heritage.
