Gundert Bungalow
Gundert Bungalow is a heritage museum located in Illikkunnu, approximately 4 kilometers from Thalassery town in Kerala's Kannur district. Originally the residence of Dr. Hermann Gundert, a German missionary and lexicographer, the bungalow served as his home for twenty years from 1839 to 1859. The site is historically significant as the place where the first Malayalam dictionary was compiled and the first Malayalam newspapers were published. Converted into a museum by the Kerala Government in 2022, it showcases Gundert's life, works, and contributions to Malayalam language and literature.
