About Tolmer Falls
Tolmer Falls is a waterfall in Litchfield National Park, Northern Territory, about 85 kilometres southwest of Darwin. Fed by Tolmer Creek, it drops 32 metres over two tiers into a deep plunge pool surrounded by monsoon forest and sandstone escarpment. Notable for its year-round flow and as a major breeding site for the vulnerable ghost bat and orange leaf-nosed bat, it is viewed from a lookout platform via a short sealed walk, with swimming prohibited to protect the colony.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a short 400-metre return sealed walk from the car park through open woodland to a fenced lookout platform overlooking the gorge. The falls plunge into a deep, forested plunge pool that is not accessible for swimming. The site offers interpretive signage about the bat colony and escarpment ecology, photo opportunities of the waterfall and gorge, and a quiet natural setting within Litchfield National Park.
