History of Thread Garden
Thread Garden was conceived and created by Antony Joseph, who spent about 12 years handcrafting the entire garden using embroidery thread and hand-winding technique without machines. The project demonstrates a long-term artisanal effort to replicate natural flora entirely in thread, and has been developed as a private art installation and tourist attraction in Ooty.
Culture & Context
The garden showcases textile craftsmanship and hand-embroidery skills, representing a unique form of artificial horticultural art in the Nilgiris. It reflects local artisanal creativity and adds to Ooty's tourism landscape as an example of handmade artistry inspired by natural gardens.
