About The Never Never Museum
The Never Never Museum is a small community heritage museum in Mataranka, Northern Territory, within the Roper Gulf region. Located on the Stuart Highway, it preserves and interprets the history of the Elsey Station pastoral era, the region's World War II presence, and local Aboriginal heritage. Named after Jeannie Gunn's 1908 book We of the Never Never, the museum displays photographs, artefacts, machinery and documents illustrating early settlement and station life in the Never Never district.
