History of Sri Shambhu Lingeswara Temple
The temple is believed to be at least 1000 years old, dating back to the Kakatiya dynasty period (12th-14th century). According to legend, during the Kakatiya period, a cowherd discovered the Shivalinga when his cow emptied its udder over it. The cowherd broke the linga into 11 pieces, but it miraculously reformed the next day. The local ruler then built the temple around the self-manifested linga. The temple architecture reflects the glory of the Kakatiya dynasty.
