About Point Perpendicular Lighthouse
Point Perpendicular Lighthouse is a historic coastal lighthouse on the northern tip of the Beecroft Peninsula at the entrance to Jervis Bay in New South Wales. Built in 1899 to replace the poorly sited Cape St George Lighthouse, the 44-metre white tower remains an active aid to navigation. Located within the Beecroft Weapons Range near Currarong in the Shoalhaven region, it is noted for its maritime heritage, dramatic cliff-top setting and panoramic views over Jervis Bay.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect an isolated cliff-top setting at the northern entrance to Jervis Bay with a tall white lighthouse tower, keeper's quarters and surrounding coastal heath. Access is via Lighthouse Road through the Beecroft Weapons Range and is only possible when the range is open to the public, typically weekends, public holidays and NSW school holidays during daylight hours. The lighthouse interior is not open to the public; viewing is exterior only. The site offers expansive ocean and bay views, opportunities for photography, whale watching in season, and short walks on surrounding tracks.
