History of Moula Ali Dargah
Built in 1578 by Sultan Ibrahim Qutb Shah of the Qutb Shahi dynasty. According to legend, a court eunuch named Yaqut had a vision of Hazrat Ali and found a stone with his handprint on the hill, leading to the construction of the shrine. It became one of the two important national festivals during the Nizam's rule.
Culture & Context
The dargah is particularly revered by Shia Muslims but welcomes devotees of all faiths, reflecting Hyderabad's syncretic culture. It is the only dargah dedicated to Hazrat Ali in the region and hosts significant religious gatherings during Muharram and Urs festivals.
