History of Kings Beach
Kings Beach developed as Caloundra's main ocean surf beach in the early 20th century as the town grew as a seaside resort. The Kings Beach Bathing Pavilion and Ocean Pool were constructed in 1937 and are heritage-listed for their interwar design and role in the development of surf lifesaving and seaside recreation on the Sunshine Coast.
Culture & Context
Located on the traditional lands of the Gubbi Gubbi (Kabi Kabi) people, the Caloundra coastline holds cultural significance for its coastal resources and connection to Country. Today Kings Beach is a central community and recreational gathering place for residents and visitors.
