History of Kasba Ganpati Mandir
The temple was commissioned in 1630 by Jijabai Bhosale, mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, after a Ganesha murti was discovered in the area. During the freedom struggle, Bal Gangadhar Tilak designated Kasba Ganpati as the first Manacha Ganpati to resolve rivalry among mandals regarding immersion priority during Ganesh Chaturthi. The Peshwas were ardent devotees and celebrated grand Ganesh festivals at nearby Shaniwarwada. It is believed that Shivaji Maharaj never left for battle without seeking blessings at this temple.
