About Kalapathar Beach
Kalapathar Beach is a scenic coastal attraction on the southeastern tip of Swaraj Dweep (Havelock Island) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Named for the black rocks (kala pathar) lining its shore, it features white sandy stretches, turquoise waters and dense coastal vegetation. Known for tranquil surroundings and sunrise views, it is less crowded than Radhanagar Beach and offers a quiet setting for sightseeing and photography amid natural coastal scenery.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a relatively secluded shoreline with white sand, clear turquoise water and distinctive black rocks scattered along the coast and in shallow water. The beach is fringed by dense green forest and coconut palms with open views of the sea, ideal for sunrise viewing. There are no water sports facilities and swimming is generally not recommended due to rocks and currents. The area is quiet with limited shops and is mainly explored on foot for sightseeing, photography and relaxation.
