History of Kakki Reservoir
The Kakki Dam was constructed in 1966 as part of the Sabarigiri Hydroelectric Project, an Indo-American collaboration. The project was commissioned on August 28, 1967, by then President of India V.V. Giri. The dam is a 116-meter high concrete gravity structure that created the Kakki Reservoir along with the Anathode Dam to form a shared water source for hydroelectric power generation.
