History of Jacob's Creek
Founded in 1847 by Bavarian immigrant Johann Gramp who planted the Barossa Valley's first commercial vineyard along the banks of Jacob's Creek at Rowland Flat. The original vineyard and Gramp's cottage remain part of the estate's heritage. The Jacob's Creek brand, launched in 1976, became one of Australia's most exported wines and helped establish the Barossa's international reputation.
Culture & Context
Represents the winemaking heritage of the Barossa Valley, one of Australia's premier wine regions settled by German and Silesian migrants. The estate is a focal point for Barossa wine culture, food and wine tourism, and showcases South Australian viticulture traditions.
