About Hotham Valley Railway
Hotham Valley Railway is a heritage tourist railway based at Dwellingup in the Shire of Murray, Western Australia, about 100 km south-east of Perth. It operates preserved steam and diesel trains on a section of the former Pinjarra to Narrogin railway through jarrah forest. Established as a tourist operation in 1974, it preserves Western Australia's timber and railway heritage and offers scenic forest train experiences from Dwellingup to Etmilyn.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a heritage train ride departing from the restored Dwellingup Station through jarrah forest in Lane Poole Reserve. The experience includes historic carriages hauled by preserved steam or heritage diesel locomotives, forested scenery along the Hotham River valley, views of former timber milling areas, and time to explore the station precinct, yard, and displays. Rides are guided and operate to a seasonal timetable, typically as a return journey to Etmilyn.
