History of Giant Swing
Constructed in 1784 by King Rama I, founder of the Chakri Dynasty, to host the Brahmin Triyampawai swing ceremony (Triyampawai-Tripawai) where participants swung to honor Shiva. The original structure was made of teak wood and has been restored several times, most recently with golden teak from Phrae Province. The ceremony was discontinued in 1935 due to safety concerns, but the structure remains as a historic landmark.
