About Franklin Harbor Conservation Park
Franklin Harbor Conservation Park is a protected area in Franklin Harbor on the eastern Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, near the town of Cowell. Proclaimed in 2005, it protects numerous small islands, mangrove woodlands, samphire saltmarsh and intertidal flats within the sheltered harbor. The park is significant for conserving coastal wetland habitats and as an important roosting and feeding area for migratory shorebirds and seabirds.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a low-lying coastal conservation area comprising small islands, tidal flats, mangroves and samphire marshes within the sheltered waters of Franklin Harbor. The park is not accessible by road and can only be reached by boat from Cowell. There are no developed walking trails or visitor structures on the islands. The setting is natural and undisturbed, offering views of the harbor, birdlife, and intertidal landscapes. Activities are nature-based and dependent on tide and weather conditions.
