History of Divya Shila Yamunotri
Divya Shila is traditionally associated with the Yamunotri pilgrimage. The Yamunotri Temple was originally constructed in the 19th century by Maharani Guleria of Jaipur and later reconstructed after damage. The custom of worshipping Divya Shila before the goddess Yamuna has been followed for generations as part of the temple rituals.
Culture & Context
In Hindu tradition, Divya Shila is considered a divine rock and is worshipped before offering prayers to Goddess Yamuna. Pilgrims believe that darshan of Yamunotri is incomplete without first paying obeisance to Divya Shila. It holds importance for Char Dham Yatra pilgrims and devotees of the Yamuna river.
