About Crocodile Harry's Underground Nest
Crocodile Harry's Underground Nest is an eccentric underground dugout home and museum on Crowders Gully Road in Coober Pedy, South Australia. Created and inhabited by Latvian-born Arvid Blumenthal, known as Crocodile Harry, from the 1970s until 2006, the labyrinthine residence is carved into the hillside and filled with eclectic sculptures, paintings and memorabilia. Notable as a filming location for Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, it exemplifies Coober Pedy's distinctive underground living tradition.
