History of Church of the Assumption

The original attap church was replaced by a brick church in the early 19th century, and the current structure was built from 1860 to 1861 under Fr. Adolphe Couellan. It was restored and conserved as part of George Town's inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008.
