About Bicheno Penguin Tours
Bicheno Penguin Tours is a guided wildlife experience in Bicheno on Tasmania's east coast within the Glamorgan-Spring Bay municipality. The tour takes visitors to a foreshore colony of little penguins (Eudyptula minor) as they return ashore after dark. Operated with a conservation focus, it provides supervised viewing using low light to minimise disturbance. Notable for offering close observation of Tasmania's smallest penguin species in its natural coastal habitat under guide supervision.
Visitors guide
Visitors meet at the Bicheno Visitor Information Centre after sunset and are led by a guide to a designated foreshore viewing area. In darkness, with the aid of low red light, visitors can watch little penguins coming ashore, crossing the beach and returning to burrows. The guide provides commentary on penguin behaviour, breeding and conservation. The setting is an open coastal foreshore with beach, rocks and dune vegetation. Viewing is outdoors, standing and walking short distances in low light.
