About Bicheno Blowhole
Bicheno Blowhole is a natural coastal blowhole located on the rocky foreshore at the end of Blowhole Road in Bicheno on Tasmania's east coast within the Glamorgan-Spring Bay municipality. Formed in jointed dolerite rock, it forces seawater through a narrow opening to create a dramatic spray during swells and high tides. The site is a popular free attraction with a viewing platform and is notable for its accessible coastal setting and photogenic ocean views.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a short coastal walk from a small car park to a fenced viewing platform overlooking a narrow fissure in dark dolerite rocks. When swell and tide conditions are right, seawater is forced through the fissure and erupts as a spray. The setting is exposed rocky coastline with ocean views, interpretive signage, and open areas for photography and sightseeing. There is no beach swimming at the blowhole itself, and the surrounding rocks are uneven and can be slippery.
