History of Bhadravati Jain Temple
The temple is an ancient protected monument whose exact construction date is unknown but confirmed as very old through relics. Half the main idol remained buried until the early 20th century when locals worshipped it as Kesaria Baba. In 1910, a dream led to its rediscovery by Sri Chaturbhujabhai, and the government handed over the shrine to the Swetamber Jain community in 1912 AD along with 142 acres of land. Extensive renovations were carried out thereafter, with further renovation in 2013.
Culture & Context
The temple is a major pilgrimage site for the Jain community, particularly Swetambar Jains. Devotees historically offered sindur to the partially buried idol before its formal rediscovery. An annual festival fair is held on Posh Krishna Dasami attracting thousands of devotees. The site is revered as Bhadravati Tirth and associated with miraculous occurrences according to tradition.
