About Bhaderwah Lavender Fields
Bhaderwah Lavender Fields are extensive cultivated lavender farms spread across villages around Bhaderwah town in Doda District, Jammu and Kashmir. Developed under the CSIR-IIIM Aroma Mission and known as the centre of India's Purple Revolution, the fields are notable for large-scale lavender cultivation at Himalayan foothill altitude. They attract visitors for seasonal purple blooms, aroma-based agri-tourism and the annual Bhaderwah Lavender Festival.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect wide open fields covered with rows of blooming purple lavender set against forested hills and meadows around Bhaderwah valley. The area consists of working agricultural fields, not a formal enclosed garden, with walking paths between plots, distillation units and demonstration plots managed by local farmers and CSIR-IIIM. During bloom season the fields are fragrant and highly photogenic, with opportunities to observe cultivation, harvesting and essential oil extraction and to interact with farmers.
