History of Archer Park Rail Museum
Archer Park Station was constructed in 1899 as the southern terminus of the Rockhampton railway system and served the Archer Park area and the former Denison Street tramway. It operated as a passenger station until closure in the 1970s. The building is heritage-listed for its Federation-era architecture and role in Central Queensland's rail development. Restored by volunteers, it reopened as a rail museum preserving the unique Purrey Steam Tram, one of few remaining examples in the world.
