Ahilya Fort
Ahilya Fort is a historic 18th-century fort-palace complex on the north bank of the Narmada River at Maheshwar in Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh. Built and expanded as the capital and residence of Queen Ahilyabai Holkar of the Holkar dynasty, it combines fortified walls, palaces, temples and ghats. Today part of the complex operates as a heritage hotel run by descendants of the Holkar family, while the ghats and temples remain accessible to visitors.
