Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple
Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple is a historic Hindu shrine in Mardol, Ponda, Goa, dedicated to Goddess Mahalasa, revered as the Mohini avatar of Lord Vishnu. Originally located in Verna, the deity was relocated to Mardol in the 16th century to escape Portuguese destruction. The temple complex is over 450 years old and features a distinctive brass lamp tower and a famous bell historically used for truth-testing. It remains a significant pilgrimage site for Goud Saraswat Brahmins and Vaishnavas.
