Avon Descent
The Avon Descent is a 124-kilometre whitewater paddling race along the Avon and Swan Rivers from Northam to Guildford in Western Australia. First held in 1973, it is Australia's longest whitewater event, attracting kayaks, surf skis and power dinghies over two days each August. Notable for its challenging rapids, Avon Valley scenery and community atmosphere, it draws competitors and spectators to multiple viewing points along the river corridor.
