Maryborough
Maryborough is a historic gold-rush town in the Central Goldfields Shire of Victoria, about 168 km north-west of Melbourne. Established after gold was discovered in 1854, it retains an exceptionally intact Victorian-era streetscape along High Street. It is notable for its grand 1890 railway station, heritage public buildings, goldfields museums and as the birthplace of author P.L. Travers.
