Wonthaggi State Coal Mine
The Wonthaggi State Coal Mine is a preserved historic coal mine and heritage reserve on Garden Street in Wonthaggi, Bass Coast, Victoria. Established in 1909 as a state-owned mine to supply coal for the Victorian Railways, it operated until 1968. Now managed by Parks Victoria, the site features original mine buildings, a visitor centre and museum, and offers guided underground tours, providing insight into Victoria's industrial and mining heritage.
