Murray Mouth
The Murray Mouth is the outlet where Australia's longest river, the Murray River, meets the Southern Ocean in South Australia, within the Alexandrina Council area near Goolwa and Hindmarsh Island. Part of the Coorong National Park and Lower Lakes system, it is a dynamic sand-bar estuary between Sir Richard and Younghusband Peninsulas. Notable for its shifting channels, coastal dunes, important bird habitat and the nearby Goolwa Barrages, it is a key natural landmark at the end of the Murray-Darling Basin.
