Wave Break Island
Wave Break Island is an artificial island in the Gold Coast Broadwater, Queensland, created in 1985 during construction of the Gold Coast Seaway. Located north of Main Beach and south of South Stradbroke Island, it protects the Broadwater from ocean swell. The uninhabited island is known for its sheltered waters, sandy beaches and rocky foreshores, and is a popular destination for snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming and boating accessed only by vessel.
