Kamakhya Temple
Kamakhya Temple is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya located atop Nilachal Hill in western Guwahati, Assam. Regarded as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas and a major centre of Tantric Shaktism, it is known for its distinctive beehive-like shikhara and sanctum with a yoni-shaped cleft. The present structure was rebuilt in 1565 by Koch ruler Nara Narayana after the original was destroyed, with later Ahom additions.
