Sumilon Island
Sumilon Island is a 24-hectare coral island off the southeastern tip of Cebu in Bancogon, Oslob, about 15-20 minutes by pump boat from mainland Cebu. Established in 1974 as the Philippines' first marine protected area with guidance from Silliman University, it is notable for its shifting white sandbar, clear turquoise waters, marine sanctuary, historic lighthouse, natural lagoon and mangroves, operating partly as a protected seascape and partly as an island resort.
