Butterfly Research Centre
The Butterfly Research Centre in Bhimtal houses the fourth largest reference collection of butterflies and moths in India. Established in 2010 by lepidopterist Peter Smetacek, this privately owned museum is located in a historic colonial bungalow within the Jones Estate. The centre displays approximately 2,500 preserved specimens from India and worldwide, serving as both a research facility and educational hub for butterfly conservation.
