Kondapur Ancient Mound
Kondapur Ancient Mound, locally called Kotagadda (Fort Mound), is a significant early historic archaeological site dating to the Satavahana period (c. 200 BCE - 200 CE). Spread across approximately 100 acres near the Manjira River, this fortified settlement was identified as one of the thirty walled cities mentioned by Greek ambassador Megasthenes. The site features remains of Buddhist monastic structures, royal buildings, and a large moat, with excavations revealing over 2,000 coins including Roman gold coins.
