Mahamaham Tank

Mahamaham Tank is a large sacred temple tank located in the heart of Kumbakonam, Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu. Spread over about 6.2 acres, it is one of the largest temple tanks in Tamil Nadu. It is renowned for the Mahamaham festival held once every 12 years and the annual Masi Magam festival, when devotees take a holy dip. The tank is surrounded by 16 mandapams and 20 wells and is flanked by several important temples.
