Lachen

Lachen is a high-altitude Himalayan village in Mangan District (North Sikkim) at about 2,750 metres, situated on the banks of the Lachen Chu river. It serves as the main base for visits to Gurudongmar Lake and nearby valleys. Known for its traditional Lachenpa settlement, Buddhist monastery, alpine landscapes and snow-capped peaks, it is a regulated tourist destination requiring a Protected Area Permit.
