Saspol Caves
Saspol Caves are historic Buddhist rock-cut cave temples located on a hillside above Saspol village in Leh district, Ladakh, about 76 km west of Leh along the Indus River. Dating to the 13th to 15th centuries, the caves are renowned for rare, well-preserved wall paintings depicting Buddhist deities and tantric themes. Considered among the earliest surviving painted caves in Ladakh, they offer insight into early Tibetan Buddhist art and architecture in the region.
