St. Alphonsa Shrine
The St. Alphonsa Shrine is located within the historic St. Mary's Forane Church in Bharananganam, Kerala. It houses the tomb of Saint Alphonsa, India's first woman saint and the first canonized saint of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. Established in 1004 AD, the church is a major Christian pilgrimage center attracting devotees from around the world who come to pray at the saint's tomb and visit the adjacent museum displaying her personal belongings.
