Kiandra
Kiandra is an abandoned gold-mining town and heritage site located on the Snowy Mountains Highway within Kosciuszko National Park in the Snowy Monaro region of New South Wales. Established during the 1859 Kiandra gold rush, it briefly became Australia's highest town and is recognised as the birthplace of Australian skiing in 1861. Today visitors see scattered ruins, the restored 1890 courthouse, cemetery and alpine landscape interpreting its mining and skiing history.
