Gue Mummy
The Gue Mummy is the naturally preserved remains of 15th-century Buddhist monk Sangha Tenzin, housed in a glass shrine within a small monastery in Gue village, Lahaul and Spiti district, Himachal Pradesh. Discovered after a 1975 earthquake opened an ancient stupa, it is India's only known self-mummified Buddhist monk. The mummy sits in meditative posture with skin, teeth, and hair intact, preserved without chemicals by Spiti’s cold, arid climate.
