History of Zoroastrian Information Centre
Udvada is the most sacred town for Parsis in India as the home of the Iranshah Atash Behram, which houses the sacred fire brought by Zoroastrians who migrated from Persia to India between the 8th and 10th centuries. The fire was enshrined in Udvada in 1742. The Zoroastrian Information Centre was established to document and present this history, the migration narrative and the heritage of the Parsi community for visitors.
Culture & Context
The centre holds cultural significance as an educational facility for understanding Zoroastrianism, one of the world's oldest religions, and Parsi traditions. Udvada is regarded as the spiritual centre for Parsis worldwide, and the Information Centre provides non-Parsi visitors, who are not permitted inside the Atash Behram, with an opportunity to learn about the faith, rituals and community heritage in a neutral, informative setting.
