About White Rabbit Gallery
The White Rabbit Gallery is a contemporary art museum in Chippendale, Sydney, dedicated to 21st-century Chinese contemporary art. Opened in 2009 by philanthropist Judith Neilson, it houses the White Rabbit Collection, one of the largest collections of contemporary Chinese art outside China. Located in a converted former Rolls-Royce depot, the gallery presents large-scale rotating exhibitions across four floors and includes a tea house on the ground floor.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a four-storey converted warehouse gallery with large, open exhibition spaces displaying contemporary Chinese painting, sculpture, photography, video and installation art. Exhibitions are fully rehung twice a year, so the entire display changes. The ground floor houses a tea house serving Chinese teas and light refreshments. The setting is an industrial brick building in central Chippendale, with lift access between floors and a small shop.
