About Wat Khun Samut Chin
Wat Khun Samut Chin is a Buddhist temple located in Laem Fa Pha, Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakan Province, at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River on the Gulf of Thailand. Once situated inland, it is now isolated in the sea due to severe coastal erosion. The temple is notable as a symbol of coastal erosion and community resilience, surrounded by water at high tide and accessible only by boat.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a small Buddhist temple complex standing on elevated concrete stilts surrounded by seawater and mangrove restoration areas. Access is only by boat from Khun Samut Chin pier, followed by a walk along elevated walkways. The site includes the main ordination hall, Buddha images, and surrounding sea and mangrove landscape.
